Review of the SF Fillmore Jazz Festival

Consonance performed on Sunday, July 4th at the Fillmore Jazz Festival. They were the opening act at 10 am with very few people there at the beginning. But once they started to sing, the crowd swell rapidly. Their set was from 10 - 11:30 a.m. and it was a mix of traditional gospel and some hand-clapping "good news blues" that had the crowd on their feet giving early morning praise. Paul Foster, Jr. and Mack Williams did most of the lead singing. They were join on vocals by drummer Rev. Sam Cox and bassist Bobby Reed. Their lead guitarist was none other than the awesome Lloyd Gregory. Their set was tight and it was filled with emotion. The group is really good at engaging the audience and getting them involved in their show. It was a real treat to see them in rare form at this venue.
